A trip to the park

The trail to the state park was officially opened on Friday but we were riding on the day before. It has been all groomed and decorated for the big event. We started at the battlefield site and rode all the way to lake Erie. Soon there will be talking info stations along the trail,benches and more. On our trips we have seen frogs ,turtles(lots),birds of all kinds, fish spawning,and Macy got to see her first deer! A big thrill for her.
Macy was a real trooper on her little bike ,training wheels and all. She starting to look forward to the sites along the trail. This week Ginny came for her riding debut.
Macy has the play area in sight and out paced Ginny across the parking lot to the beach. We had lunch on the beach and Macy got to play in the water. The sand bars were a good place to run in.
When we got to the water ,she just had to get in. Another good day... it seems like they never end(I hope not).

Greens from the garden

We continue to harvest greens from the raised beds in the garden. Here Gin is blanching Swiss Chard for the freezer. We have grown very fond of greens in general. I don't know why it took so long in life for us to enjoy them? I think we get stuck in a rut with foods and don't explore past the things that we grow up eating. Ignorance I guess.

Muskie fishing

I went fishing with Matt and only took one photo so this is it! We try muskie fishing once or twice a year. Matt hooked one on the second cast of the day and I blew the netting job! I was trying to extend the net,get the camera and net the fish all at once and the fish said enough of this and rolled his line and it broke. Matt was pissed for a short time but held his wrath. My bad. :)

We were fishing in the Detroit river,you can see how green the water is. It can be very good at times,trick is being there at the right time. A good day.

The granddaughters eye

Poor Macy got bit by something, maybe just a skitter, and her eye swelled up terribly. We feel bad but she's not in pain. Looks bad hey.
